Paula grew up in Northwestern Ontario enjoying the natural settings of creation. She spent countless hours fishing, hiking, camping and enjoying the beautiful surroundings provided by our creator. The logo was selected after much though and reflection of her ancestry. Paula comes from the Bear Clan, which represents Friendship, Strength and Honor. Paula’s Great, Great Grandfather was the Chief of the Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation. https://www.lacdesmillelacsfirstnation.ca/
The Bear Clan members were the strong and steady police and legal guardians of the people. Bear Clan members spent a lot of time patrolling the land surrounding the village, and in so doing, they learned which roots, bark, and plants could be used for medicines to treat the ailments of their people. First Nations First Aid has incorporated the bear into it’s logo, because it establishes the primary principle of first aid, which is helping people who need assistance, and is impartial as to who the injured party is.
The circle of our logo represents the unending process of education that takes place throughout our lifetime. No matter how knowledgeable we may think that we are, there is always something new to learn. The 4 colors represent all the nations of the world, who we wish would work together in unison, as we help one another achieve our common goals.
